What is rice bran oil?
When rice goes through the milling process the hull surrounding the kernel is first removed, leaving brown rice. The brown color consists of the bran layer and germ. To get white rice, the brown rice is further milled (polished) to remove the bran layer and germ. The rice bran is formed into pellets and the oil is extracted.
Why is rice bran oil useful for horses?
- Firstly, rice bran oil is useful for adding sheen to the hair coat.
- Secondly, it is very high in digestible energy and will add calories to the diet without bulk.
- Rice bran oil contains natural antioxidants, such as various forms of vitamin E.

Any side effects of feeding rice bran oil? Can I overfeed rice bran oil?
Rice bran oil is safe with no adverse side effects have been found. As with any oil, feeding too much may result in loose stools. And since the rice bran oil is rich in calories, a horse may become obese if overfed.
How long will the Natural Glo Rice Bran Oil stay fresh?
Since Natural Glo Rice Bran Oil is refined it is shelf stable for 1 year, once the seal has been broken. Store in a cool, dry place for up to a year. For maximum freshness, use within 3 months after opening.
