Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I feed Stabilized Rice Bran rather than grain?

To capture the same amount of digestible energy found in one to two pounds of Natural Glo, a grain mix or sweet feed would need to be fed at volumes that we consider too large for the horse to digest in the fore gut with just one or two feedings per day.

Grain rations of more than five pounds per day should be done in three or more feeding per day for proper fore gut digestion. Undigested grain that passes through to ferment in the cecum can alter the ph of the hind gut to the detriment of beneficial bacteria that the animal relies upon to help digest the fiber found in hays and pasture grass.

When this happens the horse is not able to properly digest the forage that it consumes and an overall loss of efficiency results. The most expensive feed products you can buy are the ones that you buy and feed, but are not converted to usable energy by your horse. A common indicator of this system imbalance would be undigested grain in your horses stool.

Why should I feed Natural Glo rather than other rice bran products?

Natural Glo is manufactured to human grade standards in both the original meal form and a easy to feed pellet. We guarantee both your satisfaction and the one year shelf life of our products. Many other rice brans are actually rancid when you purchase them.

Natural Glo contains the highest level of natural source vitamin E (50 IU per pound) found in any Rice Bran product. In addition Natural Glo is Calcium / Phosphorous balanced and can be used with any hay source.

It is easy to see why Natural Glo is the first choice of horse professionals.

What will Natural Glo do for my horse?

Studies have shown that the consumption of Stabilized Stabilized Bran by horses can provide increased utilization of dry matter, crude protein, gross energy, neutral fiber and acid detergent fiber.

Stabilized Rice Bran can also reduce the risk of tying up in horses when used in a properly designed feeding program. For those horse owners that feed high grain rations and experience colic and founder problems Natural Glo can be a safe and effective answer to better horse health.

The overall condition and appearance of your horse will improve in two to four weeks, guaranteed.

People are eating less Fat, Why Feed Fat to horses?

Horses in the wild had much more opportunity to eat natural vegetable fat from the plants that they consumed every day. As a result, the horses digestive system evolved to use natural vegetable fats to make energy.

When we keep horses confined and feed cured hay the horse gets less natural fat into their diet. Fat provides 2.25x more digestible energy than protein or carbohydrates. Since fat provides more energy, a significantly smaller amount needs to be fed to result in the same amount of energy.

This results in lower levels of feed concentrate in the ration and a more natural function of the horses system. Compared to other energy sources higher natural fat in a feeding program can produce a calmer type of energy and more stamina or bottom in your horse.

Do I have to wet Natural Glo?

Natural Glo can be fed wet or dry. Most users feed it dry either on top of whatever other concentrate they use or alone. Horses love the taste.
